We love this butter on steak, melted over sautéed mushrooms and added to savory muffins as a substitute for plain butter.
This recipe makes 20 serves, a serve is 1 tablespoon.
Caramelized Onion Flavored Compound Butter Ingredients
- 1 medium Onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons of Olive Oil
- ¼ teaspoon of Salt
- ½ teaspoon of Erythritol
- 2 sticks (8oz) of Butter, softened
- Salt, to taste
How to Make Caramelized Onion Flavored Compound Butter
- Place the oil into a non-stick frying pan and place over high heat.
- When the oil is hot and shimmering, add the onion and sauté. Stirring continually.
- When the onions have softened and are lightly browned add the salt and erythritol.
- Continue to cook until browned and sticky. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool.
- Add the cooled onions to your food processor and blend on high for 1 minute.
- Add the softened butter and blend on medium until combined.
- Adjust seasoning and blend until combined.
- Spoon the butter onto a sheet of cling film and gently roll into a log shape. Store in the fridge or freezer.
